| November Contest!
The November contest is announced at last! Sorry, I've been a bit slow getting to this. My Co-Leader and advisors were much more on top of things than I was.
The contest is simple. We all have a base design. I'm willing to bet most of us haven't put much thought into it, or simply copied one from somewhere else. Well, this contest is here to change that!
*Create your own base design!* We here at eXorsus want you to re-create your base! We want to see who here really grasps the ideals of base building and who can create the perfect base!
The contest will be judged on 7 characteristics: Catapult vulnerability, Pathing, Effort put into attacking, Positioning, Creativity/Uniqueness, Level, and Other. (Yeah, "Other" is ambiguous.) Each category is weighted differently.
This contest will be completed and judged on the off-site forums. If you do not have the link to our forums, please message any of our leadership!
Rules: Before you begin your re-design, post a "Before" picture on our off-site forums in the Sub-Forum "Contest Entries" in our "Contests" forums. On November 25th, post your "After" picture. Add any comments that are necessary for us to fully understand your design. Post attack logs, videos, and anything that you feel would truly help the judges grasp your design concepts!
Please title your post "Username's November Base Remodel" When you're finished remodeling, please reply to your same post.
Judges will use the following form to examine your remodeled base! Judges, please wait until the final version of a base has been posted for voting!
-Catapronability: -/15 -Level of pathing: -/15 -Effort to plan attack: -/10 -Positioning: -/10 -Creativity/Uniqueness: -/20 -Other: -/10 -Level: -/20 (56 = 7 points, 43 = 20)
Total Score: 000/100
The winner will receive a GameStop gift card in the amount of $20. Don't believe me? Ask Garrettlazer. He won last month's contest.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: But I'm only level 43! How will I match the base of a level 50?!
A: We're adding a handicap in the "Level" section of score card. Level 43 will receive 20 points, level 44 will receive 19 points, level 45 will receive 18 points, etc.
Q: Why would I do this? I barely have enough time to play the game!
A: There's a nice incentive if you win. Twenty bucks is a pretty nice addition to your base after the time you spend!

| Some suggestions: Don't base the base (confusing) on level; rather what is in the base (i.e towers and such. After all, if someone doesn't level up much but had been playing a long time, then he/she would have an unfair advantage.) and instead of getting attacked or something, simply make it look like it works. Don't be afraid to take inspiration from other bases, just don't use it. | |

| I'll edit this post when the contestants send stuff in. Sorry Arseus, didn't realise that was the old base. Still a couple issues - ADT should be protected from catapults and there are groups of towers that can be cata's without harming silos. Pathing is also quite limited.
Yoshi, I like the base a lot. To get the most points though I need to know your actual level. While the NEC is good, I can still see a couple holes where an attacker could fling monsters, especially below the Chaos Lab. Filling in those holes will increase your 'Attack Effort' and 'Other' points. Muchos creativity points for writing EXO. You'll need to confirm this one - the centre seems quite cataprone - a few points lost there. Silo clusters can be looted in one go. See if you can find a way to seal them off without affecting the pathing.

| Seems rather quiet... Wonder if enough people know about the contest. Well here's mine as a sort of format standard. It's my own design from scratch (credit to Excel ). https://i.imgur.com/1Sa4y.jpg EDIT: Fail, didn't notice the entries part I'll transfer the post!

| Wondering if we should postpone the deadline as there are only two applicants... Or should I remind everyone again about it? | |

| Let's remind everyone... The 25th as a deadline is fine. Easy money. We had people show initiative. No reason to count it against them since they did it before others. | |

| Seeing as the 25th has passed, I'll be judging the bases this weekend. Other judges: This means the advisors and co-leaders, please post your scores for each base on their respective threads.
Thanks! Remember to use the above scoring rubric.

| I have my computer back up and operational. Old motherboard, old ram. New case, SSD and HD. Case isn't as functional as I'd like though... since the point of the case was to get some USB 3.0 and my old motherboard doesn't have the ability. Tmack - Could you send me that excel file you have there so I can paste it, too. For my own votes (obviously) puhleeze? | |

| Will do Spyd. It's on the laptop - I'm on the desktop atm. I'll send the excel file tomorrow latest. If you want, I can add all the judges on one file so it's unified? Under each entry, there'll be a score from each judge, with an average of the sums at the bottom. I'll make that now on the desktop and post it on this one. Just say if you like it Spyder, your scores are now visible and <3 even though I know you won't read it. Dragon, I'm taking a point off myself for the handicap - probably the least glamorous way to brag about levelling up

| That'd be perfect! Let me send you a file of my scores. Need mrmean's scores. Dragon's scores too. Edit: That's beautiful!!!! I'm building my scores now. Going to post a why as well, just so people don't get mad. Also a bit of constructive criticism (The whole point of this in my opinion) Edit2: Explanations: arseus: Here are my reasons for your scores. Cata: While you're not able to hit the ADTs easily with peb/twig, I would nail the center of your base at the bottom. Get that bunker, the two quake towers, and the snipers that are around the CC. I think with that gone, the ADTs would be easily candy jar'd. Pathing: I think the pathing is a bit too simple. Where it splits next to the bunkers on the sides I think the monsters would split up and do double as much damage. Attack Effort: With the above plan, I think the pathing would lead the monsters directly into the heart of your base after they destroyed the bunkers on the left and right. Positioning: I wish you had incorporated your two quakes towards the bottom to be closer to the ADTs. Creativity: Definitely an interesting looking base! I think with a few tweaks to the positioning and pathing, that it would be a lot better. Other: I completely understand that you don't have the optimal base expansions, but I think in the long run you could've done a bit more with the concept overall. Yoshi: Here are my reasons for your scores: Cata: The cata works fairly well for your base. The snipers that are bunched at the bottom would be an easy place to hit, though, to break through the NEC and the drop monsters. Pathing: No real pathing, honestly. I think monsters would eat through the walls by the left and right silos to get to the inner area with the ADTs. Attack effort: It would definitely take a bit of time to think of a plan. It's difficult that you put the anti-fling blocks. Definitely a plus! But with the above cata plan, I think that would be a good start to an attack. Positioning: The only thing that the positioning is missing for me is that the quake towers are nowhere near the ADTs. The main purpose of the quake, I believe, is to protect the ADTs in the event that they're candy jar'd. Other: I really enjoy the eye-ra bait and anti-fling. Great use the of the extra blocks. While the NEC is a bit spotty, I think it's a great design to start with. I'm not entirely sure what level you are, but I can tell that you're not nearly done upgrading. Let us know what your level is so that you can get your handicap dvd: Here are my reasons for your scores: Cata: Yeah, I would agree with you. That center block is kind of awkward. I'm not sure that I'd waste my catas on that... perhaps I'd go for the quake towers just to take them out of the equation? Pathing: Interesting pathing. The only thing I don't like... as soon as they in your inner sanctum... there's nothing to really stop them from just eating everything quickly and easily. Attack effort: I'm not entirely sure how I'd approach this one. The anti-fling would do a bit, but your NEC has no defensive buildings. The bunker at the bottom left would be easily baited and taken out. Way too easy, too, to disable you by taking out your housing Positioning: I think the center could've been built a bit better... Maybe expand that maze a bit and take away some of the triple walls? Creativity: I like the spiral design. While you did use a bit of that from your previous base, I'll give it to you that you adapted it nicely. Other: Nothing truly stood out to me. I'm frankly not a fan of the double blocks being so widely used. I think the base could be expanded a bit and make room for more pathing. tmack: Here are my reasons for your scores: Cata: The only part of your cata scheme that I'm a bit weary of is the double quake towers. I 'think' I could still hit some of those with a few catas... but surely wouldn't waste too much time on that. i'd probably break into your NEC instead. Pathing: Thank you for testing the pathing! I love how they weave around the base. The only reason I deducted some points is because of the two silos that get taken out along the way. Yeah, I know there's not much you can do about that Attack effort: Definitely difficult. That NEC would be hell to deal with. I'd probably cata some random buildings just so that I could get a better entrance. Positoining: I don't think you could've done that better. Perhaps with a yard expand the quakes could be a bit further apart, but good either way. Creativity: Nice name, first off. It actually looks like scythe blades on the edges. It's nice to see a base with the silos not all mushed into sectors. Well, they're in sectors, but not in a direct path that leads monsters from one to the other once they break in. Other: The NEC is the main part of this that impresses me. | |
